Sportrak interior light

Forum:

The interior light on my Sportrak driver's side doesn't come on when I open the door. The passenger side is OK. I remember this problem being discussed a while ago but I can't find it anywhere in the forum. Could someone please tell me what the solution is?

Check the door switch...

... which is not in the hinge panel like most cars but in the sill, at the bottom rear corner of the door aperture. It's hiding under a soft rubber shroud and screwed into a tapped insert in the sill (which makes it a quality item compared to most door switches!) Either it's dirty/corroded or (as in the case of my passenger side one) the wire's broken. It's not immediately apparent how to get at the wiring inside the sill until you spot the big rubber grommet in the inner sill - you'll have to stick your head under the car to see that :)

If it's seized, then they free up easy enough with WD 40 or similar, then apply some petroleum jelly to keep things sweet.

My rear one has seized

My rear door switch has seized and i have tried WD40 and everything and got it partly lose, but no matter what i do I can't get it free enough to work properly. Did try Halfords who seem ok for switches and things if u find the right corner of the store and if the store is big enough to have crap like that aswell, but no joy.
