What size tires

Forum:

Does any know what is the largest size tires i can fit to my standard size 15" steel wheels. i have a 1993 2.8 tdx with leave springs.I plan to nail it properly off road but then again i also want to do a couple of overland trips to some out of the way places. So i want to keep the transmision and suspention as original as possible. Also after a heavy duty front bumper with winch mount if any one can point me in the right direction it would be appretiated .

Short answer, not very. For added stability, and to alow 31's on the standard car put some off set wheels on. The standard alloy's or wheller 8 spoke wheels will do. Or 8 spokes / modulers from a magazine shop. 7J's will do. 8J's would be better.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

ROCK ON!!

Hey mate i have a f78 which has 15x7" rims and im running 32x11.5 wrangler mtr/r .Needed a 2" lift to make um fit tho and they rub if i hit something to hard but there well worth it for the capabilty i get. Plus they look cool too Smile

ROCK ON!!

31 - 10.50 r15 at's or mt's cooper or bfgoodrich

tyres on alloys will do well, also this is the limit on the vehicle before the gearing is changed to much with the strain of the extra diameter of a tyre, yes you can go bigger but the fourtrak will rub at every oppurtunity unless you do lifts and offsets, also if you go bigger than a 31" tyre make sure your insurance company is told because not many people know this but because of the gearing effect of bigger tyres in an accident you wont be insured, as for the front bumper/winch mount dave(dogsboss) at www.bloodredoffroad.com will knock you one up, check it out....he will also supply the shackles for the lift of your leaf springs so that you can go bigger on the rubber

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
