Looks good. Would've thought there'll be some interest in them. I'm afraid I couldn't commit to buying one as I haven't got a fourtrak bought yet but I'll consider it when I've got one.
Does anyone know how the law stands on winch bumpers as I know bullbars can be a grey area.

Hi Folks. Just bouncing this

Hi Folks.

Just bouncing this back to the top. 'dogsboss' needs the input on these winch bumpers and sales for other items, as he is now solely reliant on this sort of work, due to reduncancy. Where else can you get specialized items made for Sportraks and Fourtraks. Help a site member out. Check out http://www.bloodredoffroad.com/

Just wish to say I have no connection with Dave (dogsboss) and Bloodred Offroad, except as a contributor to the site .

Winch Bumpers

Hi.

Had a trawl around the 'YouGov' and the Department of Transport web sites, all mention 'Legislation re 'Bull Bars, Roo Bars and similar, but no mention of 'Winch Bumpers'. Design and application come into this issue, 'Winch Bumpers' are regarded of practicle use, not a cosmetic addition. So many manufactures and suppliers , surely they cannot be be wrong on the legality of these for on road use.

( I believe a Bullbar can still be fitted, if the vehicle is used in situations where it is required to protect the front the vehicle, such as in the forestry industry)

Q. SHOULD I INFORM MY INSURANCE COMPANY IF I FIT A WINCH & REPLACEMENT BUMPER?
A. WE ALWAYS RECOMMEND CUSTOMERS INFORM THEIR INSURERS WHEN FITTING ANY REPLACEMENT BUMPER OR CARRYING OUT VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS.

Q. IS FITTING A REPLACEMENT BUMPER LEGAL IN MY COUNTRY?
A. THIS DEPENDS ON THE COUNTRY. SOME COUNTRIES SUCH AS GERMANY AND SWEDEN HAVE PARTICULARLY STRICT REGULATIONS REGARDING NON-STANDARD BUMPERS. CUSTOMERS MUST CHECK LOCAL PREVAILING REGULATIONS. CUSTOMERS ARE ALSO ADVISED OF NEW LEGISLATION (Directive 2005/66/EC) WHICH IS SHORTLY TO COME INTO EFFECT. WE HAVE WRITTEN CONFRIMATION FROM THE BRITISH DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT THAT "WINCH BUMPERS" ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS LEGISLATION.

If you are really unsure, you could contact your County Police HQ, explaining your concern. Though I would enclose illustrations to show the difference. Though I have found a post on a Land Rover site , where it was stated this decision could be made by a Traffic Officer, if he was having a bad day !!!!.

Thanks for the great reply,

Thanks for the great reply, suppose I should have been less lazy and looked into it myself.
Interesting that bullbars may be allowed for forestry use, wonder if farm use would count?
Suppose like you say best thing would be to contact county police HQ to get a definitice answer

nice job

i like it looks a lot better than a great big huge slab of steel welded on the front of these defenders etc.

would buy one any idea of cost?

and could do with a few more recovery points but nice job
