Terios Remote Fob - Worked for Me

Forum:

Hi Guys

had the Terios a week ... first job ... get remote
locking sorted ...
Got old but servicable 2 button remote from ebay...
cost £40 ... steep but only option ...

Came to forum ... took note of programming instructions from a few posts ...

Spent several unhappy hours getting no respose from the locking system.

Continued to search the Web ... eventually found
a user manual with more detailed info ...

This worked for me .. Quick, Quick, Slow, Slow, Quick

it's all about timing ...

unlock vehicle ...

open bonnent ...

ignition off ... remove key ...

close all doors ...

Remove Neg battery lead ...

wait over a minuite ...

Slip Neg lead back onto terminal ...

Do Not spend any time securing it ...

as soon as terminal is on battery ...

press & hold down both buttons on fob ...

vehicle will Lock & then unlock ...

I had to hold both buttons down over 10 seconds
( it seemed to take a long time but locking process
did eventually happen )

immediately the vehicle has done the lock / unlock
process ... don't delay

you press & release one of the buttons ...

the vehicle will lock & unlock again

when this has been done, the programming is done.

Hope this helps someone somewhere

I thought I had bought a duff remote ...
but it was my timing that was duff ...

Running like a baby ... on all Fours ... lol

If memory serves me it should allow up to 2 fobs.....

To be programmed at the same time. Did this with the instructions from the forum for my the owned YRV turbo.

Slightly perturbing symptom in door locking

Edit: On re-reading this I apologise if I seem to be hijacking this thread.
First day, and first posting on this forum. I've had my 57 plate Terios for just a few weeks now and I'm absolutely THRILLED TO BITS with it. I'd been driving an 02 plate Astra for eight years and decided I need something higher off the ground and with more headroom so I could enter and exit the driver's seat more easily. The Terios almost ticks those boxes, as I'm in my 70s, not so agile and carry more lbs/kilos around my middle than I should. I also treated myself to automatic transmission (hang the reduced mpg as we only do about 3,500 miles annually) and it's a joy to drive.
However, in the past week or so the central locking has caused me some consternation which seemed to start when I was checking the tyre pressures (fortunately with the key still in my pocket). Several times, the doors locked and I assumed my movements in stretching for the valve caps had accidentally pressed the button on the fob. But several times since then it seems that perhaps the doors have been "accidentally" unlocked, as I have pressed the unlock button (with indicators flashing) to find the doors were still locked.
If any of you more experienced Terios (or even just Diahatsu) owners could offer any words of advice I would be very much obliged. Thanks.
