Generally, anything without a

Generally, anything without a dipstick, eg diffs, transfer case, gearbox, ect, you use the level of the filler plug as the oil level indicator. So, undo the filler plug, and the oil should just seep out. If it doesnt, add oil till it just does. If it absolutely gushes out when the plug is removed, and its a grey/white colour, it may be contaminated with water, hence being overfull.

What have you got? Fourtrak/Rocky, or Sportrak/Feroza? If its a Fourtrak, make ABSOLUTELY SURE you remove the CORRECT bung on the gearbox to check the level. Its on the right hand side. DO NOT undo the plug on the left hand side, with the aluminium locking washer.

LOCATIONS OF FILLER PLUGS

Can you help me with location of filler plugs its for a 2001 Fourtrak .Is it the right side as you look at engine ??? Is it near oil filter , cant see much to many bits in the way..Not a lot of room in there. many thanks

Ok, I mainly deal with mid 80

Ok, I mainly deal with mid 80's F75's, but, I think they are all pretty much the same.
The gearbox filler plug is on the right hand side when looking towards the front of the vehicle. It should be about 3-4 inches above the gearbox cross member.
The transfer case filler should be on the forward face of the case, again on the right hand side, above the gearbox cross member.
The diff ones are fairly obvious, being halfway up the outer case of the diff.

Lets make sure you get this right.

I have a 1985 F75 Right hand drive Rocky (Fourtrak) I dont know absolutely if the positions are the same on the later models, but as far as I know, they are. This is where they are on mine.

The nut on the left hand side, up the top, above the exhaust system is the nut you DO NOT TOUCH.

On the gearbox, the drain plug is at the bottom of the box, immediately in front of the gearbox cross member. I have a bash plate bolted to the cross member. The filler/level plug is on the right, above the front prop shaft.

On the transfer case, the drain plug is immediately below the front prop shaft output housing. The filler/level plug is immediately to the right of the front prop shaft output housing.

Someone will correct me if these positions have changed on the later models.
