squeeky steering f75

Forum:

Hi guys, new member and owner of 93 fourtrak as of today!!

May have been a bit silly as this one has a loud squeek on the steering, both directions, mainly at extremes of turning. It's heard in the cab and seem to come from the sterring column. Fluid level in the pas pump has been checked and is ok. It can also be heard outside of cab, seems to be coming from steering box area.Other than this the steering seems fine with no stiffness, tension or pulling.

All ideas gratefully received, I'm hoping for a quick fix but we'll see how it goes. Thanks

Power steering systems tend t

Power steering systems tend to have a few noises to them. Its probably a slightly loose drive belt. The alternative is not to steer hard on either lock.

Cheers
David

steering pump bracket

check the slide bracket on the the steering pump,at first glance it may look ok but give the pump a good push and pull,it could be broken and the belt could be only holding it in place.this happened to me and it was a simple weld to the bracket to cure, nice and cheap.
hope you find the answer Bill

Had exactly the same annoyanc

Had exactly the same annoyance with my old trak...it is, as David (Bundy)suggests, more than likely a slipping belt on the power steering pump. Ensure that the bolts that secure the pump are tight and that the belt is not loose....adjustment to tighten is easy and obvious when you look at it.
