battery dying

Forum:

Hi guys ive had my 95 sporty 4 a month now and ive found that if i dont strat her the battery dies on me i cant understand y??:?

i think its the alternator but if i start her she is fine few tiks and shes going. Can any one enlighten me pls..

You mean if you don't start h

You mean if you don't start her for a day or so? If so it could be a bad battery. If it's not holding it's charge well it may well be OK for a day or so, especially after a good run. Alternativly you could have a power drain, like an iteriour light which does not go out, or a dodgy clock that is drawing too much power, etc.
One way to test if it's just the battery not holding a charge is to disconect the battery physicly from the car (ie take one of the leads off the terminal) when your leaving it for any length of time, and put it back on when your using the car. If this solves the starting problem, then it's not the battery, and you need to start looking elswhere. Also bear in mind that the colder the whether the worse a battery performs. So it may well be OK for a while, then be dead as.. after an extra cold frosty night.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

i dont think its a bad batter

Battery

Get a new battery. The plates are probably failing. Most suppliers will test your old battery and give you a report.
