Break Light Constantly On

Forum:

Hi guys.
Another little problem for ya.
On my 87'Fourtrak my break light on the right hand side of steering wheel stays lit.
Now my friend who drives an old Citroen AX had a similer problem where-as her break light flickered on but it turned out to be that her break pads needed replacing.....
Could this be the same for my Wagon?

Thanx

Ps. the break fluid is fine.

sounds like you pads have sensors take off your front wheel and see if there is a wire going to the pads. at the same time u can check the pads yourself. good luck kermie.

Brake Light Staying On

Hi Atticus! Don't Know if you've sorted your light problem yet, if not there are other things that this could be. Is your handbrake fully releasing? Hope it's nothing too serious mate,

Ok, this is an easy fix. In

Ok, this is an easy fix.
Inside the break fluid reseviour, there is a magnetic float, in the shape of a white circle, that floats on the fluid. If you run low or out of fluid, the float drops to the bottom, where it touches the contacts in the bottom of the reseviour, completing the circuit. When you refill it, sometimes the float doesnt release from the bottom, and the light stays on. Get a screwdriver or similar, and poke around in the fluid till you free the float. Light will go out, problem solved.

Cheers
David
