MY HIJET DIESEL ENGINE VAN HAS DONE 90,000 MILES AND IT USES A PINT OF OIL EVERY 200 MILES. IT DOES NOT LEAK OIL, IT DOES NOT SMOKE WHEN IT'S RUNNING, SO IT DOES NOT BURN OIL. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THE OIL IS GOING? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP/
Oil.
1. Leak ......... you should see the drips or oil under the engine. Check the mechanical parts especially around the clutch housing.
2. Oil burn ..... the only other answer is oil burn. Whilst the engine is running hot hold a clean rag over the exhaust and see if oil contaminates the rag.
3. Is there any signs of oil in the coolant .. have a look inside the radiator cap.
