Daihatsu SST's wheel nuts

Forum:

Does anyone know where I can get a Daihatsu SST for undoing the front wheel nuts on my 1985 F70.
I have a slack wheel bearing and need to tighten the nuts up to get through the next MOT

You can always use the not so

You can always use the not so factory method, a hammer and screwdriver/punch.

tried that mate!

Tried it and they are king tight, have found a supplier for 55/60mm box spanner as I guess it's a job I shall be doing again. Seriously though a severe twatting with my favourite brass drift and a 2lb hammer followed by a further severe twatting with same hammer and a cold chisel achieved absolutely BA.
My bets are now on the box spanner with matching tommy bar and maybe a bit of galvanised pipe for additional leverage, optimistically arriving parcel force tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Said 85 F70 just romped the Mot with exception of this loose wheel bearing and a lack of handbrake effort O/S rear, thats sorted, just the bearings to go.

hub nut

Just incase you forgot. There are two nuts, and a locking washer in between on the sporties. I use a 50mm box spanner to do mine, couldnt be bothered to pay £10 for a 3/4inch drive, 50mm, long socket. slacken the outside one, remove the washer then tighten. Many a swear word has been thrown at my sporty, its had my blood sweat and tears!!

Mud makes excellent Toothpaste.

Agreed, you have straightened

Agreed, you have straightened the locking tab that is bent over the nut, havent you?

wheel lock nuts

Thanks David for the advice, job done by persistence in the hammer and drift department, have you seen the price of a 55mm box spanner lately! and yes I did miss the lock washer, blind t**t!, all became clear once I had it all apart, a very nice piece of engineering. Glad I had the manual, would have missed the bit about taking the inner nut back one flat after tightening to 90 ish ft lbs, thats a good twat with a 2lb hammer I reckon. Again many thanks for help and encouragement
