REVERSING
This is only if you have automatic front hubs.
If you have manual ones when u go from 4wd to 2wd you need to get out and manualy turn them, so the arrows on the hubs line up. If you have automatic ones then when you go from 4wd back to 2wd you still need to "unlock" them, this is done by reversing the vehicle bachwards. 2-3 car lengths is far enough.
Do you have an owners manual as it is covered in there, if you have not i can copy the page for you and post it.
Have a look at the front hubs on your car, if they have little arrows (centre of wheel) then you have manual hubs, if you have no markings thenm you have automatic.
