Rallye 4 improvements

Forum:

Hi, I have just got a Sirion Rally 4 and was wondering if there are any modifications anybody can recommend? Can it be turbo/supercharged? It is fun to drive as is but would like to give it that extra power and utilise the 4wd to it's full potential. cheers. A

Not heared of anything for

Not heared of anything for these cars, not saying there isn't anything out there to help improve them. Suppose the next thing is to look at an engine transplant. Perhaps a K3-VET transplant could be done, then you could then do things with the turbo such as plug in a Unichip-Q piggy back ECU or go for something like an E-manage set-up perhaps?

I believe so, but modified by a 3rd party on behalf of Daihatsu to get the performance with a different air filter set-up. I beleive the rally 2 and 4 sirions have just over 100bhp after tuning has been done.
Someone will be along shortly to verify.

If it is there is a

If it is there is a supercharger kit from blitz, im fitting one to a sirion soon for a client.
James

Yep.

K3 VET.

All 1300 Sirions from approx 1998 to 2004/5 were fitted with the above engine.
101 bhp is standard on the 1300.

The Rally 4 was uprated by Camspeed UK.
Taken from the standard 4 Track Sirion.

Uprated dropped Springs.
Uprated Twin Camshafts.
Free Flow Air Filter.
7 Spoke 185 Alloys.
Reports say that they also tried to tweak the ECU with little success.
And reports also say that the Rally 2/4 sneaks out 107bhp, but others say that in the later ones it could be up to 117bhp.:)

Not bad for a 1300.

Apparently they can not be tweaked any more without more money than it's worth being thrown at em.

Mine is great fun to drive. You hit 3,800 revs and you get pushed into the seat very quickly indeed.Plenty for me, and up to the speed limits in seconds.(I don't break speed limits)If anyone wants to pass me by breaking the law then I let them.
0 to 60 in approx 8 seconds - Thats faster than a Golf GTI !! Wink

And so far has proved to be extremely reliable.

thats a yes then the blitz

thats a yes then the blitz supercharger claims gains of up to 40 hp, although I doubt you will get all of that.
James

That's a no then !!

Don't beleive for one minute you can do this with this engine. Sad

I will hold my hands up and apologies if I am wrong, but I don't think I will have to.

"Use the 4 Wheel Drive to it's full ability"

You are going to end up on your roof in a ditch if lucky. Dead if you are not Sad

The Sirion Rally 2 and 4 are nice little sporty cars just as they are, and really reliable and good fun to drive.
There were only 120 Rally 4's made. I'd prefer to keep them standard and good looking. Wink

But of course that is only one opinion of many.
