I've just got hold of a 1990 UK spec Sportrack (I'm living in Cyprus and they're usually called Ferozas here).
I can see why you guys are so full of enthusiasm for the machine!
I'd like some advice please:
the suspension is looking "tired" so I want to replace the leafs and shocks. Is this a good time to raise the body up - is it all part of the same job? Also - how much to raise by - like most off-roaders (I suspect) this car will be driven on road for most of the time.
Also, does the lift create much extra body roll in "normal" road driving conditions - the roads round here are faily twisty at the best of times.

Thanks
PB

Paul,
I have only recently acquired a Sportrak and am far from being an authority on Sportraks.

During my search for a full CD version of the Sportrak manual on the web (any help welcome).
I came a cross a site devoted to upgrading suspension systems on Land Rovers, take a look at http://www.gon2far.co.uk/ it may answer some of your questions and give you a few ideas.
I particularly like the revolver suspension system.

I hope this is of some help

Thanks for your comments, Salty.
I looked at that site - the results of the mods are certainly impressive but a bit extreme for me! I'm fairly new to off-roading so I think that I'd need a bit more practice before tackling anything that needs more than, say, 3 inches of lift.
By the way, I notice that LuRcH has manuals available for sale.
Thanks again,
Paul

Paul,
I have now ordered my CD version of the Sportrak Manual, thanks for the info.

As far as the gon2far website is concerned, I agree that it is extreme. (not the sort of think I would like to try)
The point that I would like to make is that this site is more about articulation of the suspension rather than height of the suspension. I think it is possible to increase the height without improving the articulation. All the increased height will do is give more ground clearance and raise the centre of gravity, making cornering on roads less stable.

articulation

thanks again, Salty.
I'll do a bit more homework before deciding on suspension mods - I'll renovate the suspension to "standard" (but no longer "tired"!) and decide on the mods later.
