Purchased an old 2006 Sirion for commuting.

Forum:

Hi Guys,

I purchased a fairly worn out looking 2006 Sirion, 1300cc manual, its an ex rental and has done 244,000k which I paid $2950 for, (Cheap for a car of this age in New Zealand).

I have done about 2000k's in the last month as I commute to work and back and clock up round 450-500k a week.

I am averaging around 6.5L/100k as far as fuel economy goes which seems great.
My BMW E39 525i averages 11.2L/100k on the same commute and my MK3 Golf VR6 10.7L/100k.

This car is saving me around $50 a week (Fuel here in New Zealand is about $2.26 per Litre).

I changed the gearbox oil on the car yesterday, it was black, I doubt it had ever been changed before, took about 2.25L and I used a quality fully synthetic gearbox oil.

The engine oil looks clean ish, but will change that next weekend and use a quality 5w30 I guess, as I think is done about 14,000k on that oil.
I would have changed it already, but require a tool to remove the oil filter housing, which seems to be way over priced for what it is.

I noticed a small oil leak, which I suspect is the rear main seal, its not bad enough that it drips on the ground, yet.

The factory audio system annoys me, so I have purchased a bezel to enable me to install a normal Din stereo.

I also purchased some door speaker adapters online for a MyVi, however they don't seem to be compatible, so its possible the Myvi version of the car has alternative door cards.

All the car seems to have is tiny speakers in the dash and nothing else, there appears to be grills in the rear doors for speakers, does anyone know if there will be wiring goes to these locations?

Its not a big concern for now, but I like good car audio.

Sirion

Hi, my 2007 car has the wiring in the rear doors for the speakers, so have ordered some to fit next weekend

Always find in the uk at

Always find in the uk at sirions i have been to see, even if they have full service history most have never had their clutch cables adjusted for clearance which is why many wear clutches out prematurely, becoming rare now when cars have manually adjusted clutch cables, daihatsu recommend free play at the clutch pedal between 10mm to 30mm have always set mine around 20mm and works fine, if there is no free play at pedal then problems will occur.
