daihatsu mira classic turbo 4x4

Forum:

Hi there, I have a Daihatsu Mira turbo 600cc 4wd

I don't know much about them so I've joined this forum to try and find out what its worth or if anyone would be interested?

Its a 2000 reg (v reg) and has a few goodies such as turbo timer, leather, bilstein shocks/springs all round, dump valve, hks mushroom air filter.

65,000 miles

any info would be appreciated

thanks

Mira Classic

You need to go to K Kars in the park (kkitp). They have the best knowledge on this little beast, they've helped me out a lot with mine!
Just make sure you change the oil every 3000 miles and the engine will be fine - quite happy at motorway speeds once you get used to the high revs. The Achilles heel is the gearbox, had to have mine rebuilt - I think it was the bearing in the transfer box that lunched itself! Probably best to use in 2 wheel drive most of the time - it makes it much smoother at low revs. Put in 4 wheel drive for bad weather and watch people's faces when you go places that they can't in the snow - I really embarrassed a guy who was stuck in his Vauxhall Frontera!!

Hi there, thanks for your reply, I've had a guy asking to buy it from me a few times, he asks me all the time, I don't get the time to work on it really so I'm thinking of getting rid, what sort of money do they go for? everything works, elec windows all round, leather interior, momo steering wheel, bilstein suspension of some sort, turbo timer, dump valve, hks mushroom air filter, 66,000 miles, runs and drives lovely.
Although it has been sat for a long time and the underneath has rusted through, the sills have big holes so it needs both sills replacing.

just would like to know a rough price to tell him, as I don't know a great deal about them, apparently only 50 were ever made?

and info would be great.
thanks

They do go rotten underneath

They do go rotten underneath and around the rear arches. I guess the value depends on whether someone can weld, tricky really, £500-750 with no mot, or £800-1300 with mot.
Although loads were made only 50 came to the UK, supposedly to celebrate Daihatsu's 50th birthday.
For some reason I've often had Indian blokes ask me if I want to sell mine, strange!

i had 1

I had a 98 car one of the 17 built for the rally challenge which I competed in in 99 & 2000
we didn't have any gearboxes go as far as I was aware
Fantastic car gave it to my son for his first car and he sold it to a guy in Ireland
I would load some pics if I knew how to do that
Just bought a Sirion Rally 4 equally superb car
