Indicator noise

Forum:

Hello.
My car is a Daihatsu Materia 2007.
I've just noticed that when I indicate right there is a low volume beep as well as the usual ticking. When I indica left, there's no beeping. Only the tick.
Is there something wrong? I'm praying it's not a relay fault.
I also have to add, all the bulbs are working fine.

beep

were your headlights on at the time or not ?, check fuse first,
if its a relay dont worry about it , find out where it is,a new one wont be too expensive
if connections are dirty clean them up & refit see if that makes any difference,if you need any help let me know i,ll check my w/shop manual
let me know how you got on with it.

Beep

It beeps whether the lights are on or not. I've yet to check the relay as I'm not sure where they are. The fuse must be good as the indicator lights all work fine. I'll check further on Monday when I can.

relay location

if you have an owners manual check section14-12 & 13
fuses/ relays are located somewhere in glove box area ,never had reason to look on mine
try operating the indicators when you find the fuse box, if a relay is making the noise you should be able to tell which one it is.
if you need more info let me know i,ll check my w/shop manual

Even stranger things

An even more strange thing has occurred.
The indicator beep has now gone to the left indicator and has stopped on the right indicator.
How the hell?
I've checked a workshop manual I bought from eBay but there is no mention of this.

stranger things

it works ok so i would say its a relay gremlin, because its a noise of sorts and is audible.
i,d check the relays to see if anyone has been messing before,
i would get it plugged in on diagnostic kit to source the problem if checking the above does not help, dont buy another relay until you know for sure.

beep

ive just had a thought, has car been fitted with an aftermarket alarm Unknw
if it has & its been removed or messed with this could be a possible cause aswell
had this happen on a previous car of mine, whoever removed it was not too careful
& it took me a while to sort wiring & put relays where they should have been
i doubt it is this but as i said its just a thought.

Possible cause

I've come to the conclusion that it may be down to some moisture somewhere in the relays. On my way to work tonight and sat in the car park and there is no audible beep at all.

possible cause

if it is moisture check the scuttle trim cover where the front screen at the bottom is.
its the plastic panels the wiper arms go through & is in two halfs.
the panel has the lower screen seal attached to it.
the reason i think this is that mine has had the screen replaced at some time & one of my panels was not fitted correctly (the top seal to screen was trapped & damaged), also check for cracks
or damage on the plastic.
i have a spare left hand one in good condition as the right hand one was the damaged one on my car,.
you need to sort this if wet is getting in, also check inside the car round the screen & see if
headlining or screen pillars are damp , if so windscreens been replaced & not very well.
hope this is of some help.
