Hi I've just bought a Terios 2005 Sport Auto and I would like to get a couple of things done before I start using it.
As will be apparent I'm not blessed with mechanical skills, and from reading different forums etc. I'm confused as to whether this model Terios has a timing belt or a timing chain.
Is there anyone that can enlighten me and stop me making a bigger fool of myself than I normally do when I take the car to the garage.

Could do with a bit more info before you will get what you require. Nothing in your profile gives anything away
The Daihatsu Terios came in 2 engine flavours as far as I am aware. a 1.3litre with a K3-VE (85 BHP) engine and a 1.5 litre with a 3SZ-VE engine (101 BHP). Both of these engines are found in various other Daihatsu models (YRV, Later model Copen from 2005 onwards & Materia). Apart from the K3-VET which is only found in the 1.3 litre YRV Turbo in the UK (2003-2005). And the K3-VE2 found in most 1.3 Litre Sirions (1999-2005). All engines have a timing chain, apart from the 1 litre EJ-DE and EJ-VE engines which have a timing belt.

Timing Chain
Both your Terios Sport 1.3 2005 Hijet pickup & 1.3 1999 YRV 4Trak 2003 share the same engine the K3-VE
Both have timing chains and DVVT (Dynamic Variable Valve Timing).

Thanks again for the replies, so, I gather that the 2005 Terios and the 2003 YRV have the same engine and have a timing chain. The Hijet Pickup has a timing belt.
