No More Diahatsu Dealers

Forum:

I often wonder why people did not support the Diahatsu Network when in this country
Fourtraks where reliable and rugged but people then and now support Landrover which is no way as reliable . Wrangler jeeps are better off road but do people buy them No
People buy Japanese cars, Honda,Hyundai,Nissan e.t.c but Diahatsu was just as reliable and often had more extras as standard.
If the public had bought new Diahatsu and supported the dealers selling them they would still be available to buy new now.
I know several people who bought new Range Rovers and Land Rovers and have had problems within the first two years of ownership so there record is not that good
So much praising Diahatsu few supported them.

No more daihatsu dealers

Daihatsu in the UK unfortunately had to cease to be imported because of the pound and yen exchange rate. Daihatsu had no European manufacturing base and had therefore nothing to offset. The Wonderful Foutrak came to an end through legislation in Europe and a lack of investment by the new owners Toyota. It may be a little known fact to the forum but in some African countries the F70 was sold as a Toyota Blizzard. Daihatsu continue to manufacture small cars and vans in Japan and are the leader in the micro car market in Japan. I was a dealer for way over 20 years and cannot see Toyota setting up a dealer network in the UK again or indeed Europe. The Yaris engines were made by Daihatsu and the 3 cylinder engine was a wonderful piece of Ricardo design, first seen in Italy as a replacement engine for the mini! Daihatsu in Europe in dead, long live daihatsu!
