2007 charade overheating?

Forum:

While i,m here...... This is probably an old chestnut but i will air it again. The radiator cooling fan on my 2007 charade seems to run constantly once the engine is up to temp and the green light on the dash goes out. At no time does the red over temp light come on. Previous to this car i owned a 2004 auto charade and the cooling fan never kicked in on that car! I have some history with the present car and i see from old receipts that the temp sensor and radiator have been changed in the recent past. Is this a problem? Will it develop? Have parts been thrown at it and missed completely? The engine is lively, the coolant is fresh, the oil is new. It does seem odd though. This is the aircon model by the way. Could that be causing the fan to come on?

Yes the air con system will cause the fan to kick in.....

Have had cars in the past where when the aircon is on and especially when stopped in traffic the fan will come on and off. If it's staying on whilst driving all the time, then you may have an issue. What's the coolant levels at? One of the Daihatsu engines Achilles heal is the water pump failing. Or it could be as simple as an air lock in the system. Have you tried burping the system? Taking the cap off the radiator and starting the car and letting any air out of the system if it has any? Also when was the water and coolant last replaced?
