We have 2 Sirion 1.3 Series 2 cars with Auto Boxes and have not had one days trouble all the time we have owned them, Both where purchased with only 25,000 on the clock from new.
In my own experience I have found that if they are serviced regularly not thrashed and driven sensibly they will last for years
Auto boxes are no trouble at all so long as oil is changed from time to time, Most Sirion problems arise from neglect and poor maintenance not fault of the car.
Auto box filter.
Don't forget to change the auto box filter as well. Should be done every 3 years from memory. Check the owners manual on the subject as neither the auto box oil and filter are mentioned as part of the service schedule in the service book. One joke of a Daihatsu dealership told me the oil was in for the life of the car. Luckily they aren't one anymore.
