2001 non-turbo 1.3 YRV OBD2 compatibility?

Forum:

Hello to all Hatsu lovers!

This is my first post, but I was lurking around for some time + I just adore the brand, so I already feel home here, even though I'm not british Smile
The last few months here, in Germany, I was looking for a good L251 Cuore, but accidentally found a relatively cheap YRV - a model I have only seen once or twice before on the road (only 5000 YRVs were ever imported in Germany).
So anyway, last Friday I bought it for 1500€ and it really looks and feels awesome and a bit more spacious than the Cuore (a kid is on the way hehe).
Nothing seems to be wrong with the car, but the engine is a bit on the noisy side, so it's always good to "OBD2 it" and see if something comes up. I'm considering buying a small ELM327 bluetooth OBD2 tester to check it out. Do you think this car would - being a 2001 model - be OBD2-compatible?

Thanks in advance,
Johannes

Willkommen! Simple answer, yes the YRV has OBD2 as standard...

If it's anything like the YRV Turbo I once owned, the port is located under the steering wheel under tray to the left to the middle console on the UK/ Japanese right hand drivers side. On a European left hand drivers side I can only guess the same but situated to the right. Personally used a scan gauge II reader on mine to show extra gauges, but it also had the ability to read error codes and clear them etc...

This ScanGaugeII looks like a really cool toy, but here it costs 150€, so I just got the 7€ OBD2 bluetooth dongle and will use my smartphone to read it. Will update when it's here and tested. Thanks!
