So the inevitable finally happened and my exhaust hast rusted though, just where the silencer meets the catalytic converter. Unfortunately after speaking to multiple garages, it looks like the individual part, the rear of exhaust from the silencer back, is not available, and the only was is to replace the entire exhaust. Does anyone have any experience with this problem/ know where to get hold of parts?

Although the Daihatsu dealerships use International Motors, it's worth contacting them yourself just to see if they have any spare exhaust parts for your car.
Failing that it's a stainless steel bespoke system. There are plenty of them about, and will mean an exhaust system for the life of the car at possibly a fraction of the cost of a new proper one.
