Hi everyone

I have a Charade SL L250 which is getting on a bit (80 000 miles). It has always had a bit of a sticky gearbox since I inherited it at 40k miles, but lately it has really become noticable, especially between 2nd and 3rd gear. The clutch needs re-doing anyway as it makes godawfull knocking noises that I can notice when the car is stationary and I have the clutch depressed. I think that it would be a good idea to replace the gearbox at the same time as getting the clutch done, but finding one is a right pain in the ass. I have a friend that has several derelict sirions, I was wondering if anyone knew if the gearbox from a sirion could fit in a charade? If not, does anyone have any suggestions about where to get a gearbox from, what to look out for when buying one and anydrawbacks/issues fitting a new gearbox might have? I really love this car (his name is Toby) and although I dont know much about cars, I want to keep him running forever if possible and would greatly appreciate anyones thoughts or advice.
