Car won't start - Looking for starter relay switch

I've been having problems with my 1988 Daihatsu Charade, for the first time since I've had it. I've been told numerous times it is the starter relay switch. I got the part and now can't even find it under the hood. I know it sounds crazy, but I don't think it's there. Nothing happens when I try to start it now. Only the headlights work. I've traced the wires from the battery and there doesn't seem to be anything even resembling the relay switch I got from the auto parts store.

Im not familiar with Charade but have you looked on the body of the starter motor?

It's not on the starter. That was my first thought when I couldn't find it, but I've been told there's no way it could be in the solenoid. Thanks for responding!!
