Bleeding Hijets - cooling system

Forum:

It seems everybody agrees that bleeding the heater on the hijets is an absolute must, it is also a good idea to flush the coolant system too, also some people seem to have difficulty getting hold of the little rubber bung on the T in the heater hose. I've just bought a "Radiator Flush Kit" which consists of a T but instead of a rubber bung, it has a screw off cap, definately useful for bleeding hijets. Have a look at them at:

Sounds useful

Thanks for that, sounds really useful :-).... but can you (or anyone) tell me exactly *where* to bleed the system, where the "T in the heater hose" is?

I have a 1.3 hijet and when flushing the coolant I've simply filled it from the cap at the top of the radiator in the front..... I couldn't and still can't find where you are supposed to bleed the system.

Hopefully this simple reason is why my 'jet continues to overheat Sad

Lift up the drivers seat, there you will see the heater hose, going from cylinder head to heater in that hose is a T. if you cant find it I will send a photo

Air Lock In Coolant System

Hi, I am having a nightmare!!, I have removed the coolant temp sensor, i have drained and flushed from the pipe on the bottom of the rad, i have re filled up the system until the pipe under the passenger seat overflows, i then put the cap on. then continued to fill up the radiator until it was full. i then start up the van, and both bottom hoses on the rad are staying stone cold. but at the top of the pipe under the seat where i filled up, that gets very hot. but after maybe 5 minutes of running, when the engine gets hot, water starts to fill up in the expansion tank. if any one could help on how to bleed this system? i have a major air lock! and I've tried any things to remove it. unfortunately i don't think the fans inside the cab are working. as i can't hear the motor blowing when i turn them up!. but that aside, the fan behind the rad to keep it cool works perfect! as it has a switch wired to the dash to turn it on manually!. any advice?? thanks.
