Hijet workshop/service manual

Forum:

I've recently purchased a 2002 Hijet pickup - 1.3, petrol. I've been trawling the net for a manual and realise that there isn't one! Does anyone have any suggestions? Is the 1.3 petrol engine used in any other vehicles so I could buy a manual for one of them? Aagh! Please help! Any suggestions gratefully received. Many thanx, Nixxi

Hi Jet manual

Have a look on ebay, have seen them go cheaper but if needs must -

I have one of the Ebay ones.

I have one of the Ebay ones. There very basic and expensive for what they are. You can have a copy of mine for the postage and cost of cd. If others have ended up with a copy then I'll feel less ripped off. The CD I got was also badly scratched, so I complained and he ranted on how he personally checked them etc although he did send me another.

Again they are a very basic owners manual, nothing along the lines of a Haynes.

Now HARVEY springs to mind. He has some of the Daihatsu workshop manuals. Maybe if enough of us want a copy and we can make it worth his while then maybe we can get him to run off some copies. He's done it before but didn't make many copies. I think it's tedious so I think he's reluctant to do them again.

Vertical

Why not a bribe? Hi-Jet owners need to stick together!

The manuals would be a great resource. It's impossible to get hold of them. I think we need to be more socialist about this. The 4X4 owners all work together and I think we need to shore up the "Hi-Jet Alliance" a little better.

This forum is rife with problems about overheating hi-jets, alloy wheels for hi-jets, and hi-jets cutting out. And there are very few good solutions provided.

Here's an idea! Lets all bribe Harvey!

We all could use the manuals as a resource. Hell, even the Daihatsu dealers role their eyes when they have to service a hi-jet. We need to be more self sufficient.

Harvey's a busy man. He's not going to invest all of his free time standing over a photocopier or a scanner. Have you seen the pictures of those manuals? "Good Gracious Me!" They are huuuuggge!! I certainly wouldn't do it! As you say Vertical, it's a tedious job. We've gotta be fair to Harvey.

So, how 'bout this idea? If we all chipped in, maybe a tenner each for example, sent to his paypal account, perhaps we could get Harvey to make the manuals available. We only need to ask him what it would take to get him to do it? Here's some of the members who recently posted something or other about hi-jets:

onilleymcknown, Deano_Sarah, xxemaphor, vertical fool, oldminiman, DaihatsuDave, M4X, bus--ty, steven alan, Rusty 123, Little Vanman, diy_dan, surfspud, andyrd.

If these members all contributed, that's £140. I can't see there being any copyright issues.

What do you all think? What's point of all these duplicated queries about the same old problems if we can't all discuss the manuals together?

We Hi-Jet owners are a rare and special breed.

onilleymcknown
(Canadian, eh!)

I've got to agree with you

I've got to agree with you in regard to getting hold of the manuals. Hopefully we can "persuade" him to do another batch. Maybe they could be stored as a PDF so it would be easier to distribute. Harveys already run off some copies but they were snapped up so we could do with having the ability to be able to quickly reproduce them, therefore stored electronically/PDF. They must be a pain to copy but Harvey doesn't have to do it himself. There must be lots of schoolies this time of year who want some extra money for presents/alcohol!

The fourtrack owners etc can buy manuals of this site for £15 in PDF format so a £10 would be a bargain. What manuals are these? Could we get Harveys manual put on here if we got it into a PDF format. This would eliminate the hastle of distribution and would allow future Hijet owners an easy route to manual ownership.

When Harvey copied the manuals last time there were surely bought by Hijet owners on this forum? Where/Who are they?

It would be nice to cement the Hijet group but its sometimes weeks between posts so I and others get disillusioned and give up for a while then come back a month or two later and read the 5 posts I've missed! So I don't know how we could do it. I'm a member of a corrado yahoo group and they send new posts to me directly by email. Maybe this would help?

Another problem being people posting about Hijets in commercials and in Cars.

Also I've just missed out on a superb roofrack on a braeker on Ebay so if anyone see's one, let me know!

Hopefully we'll make contact with Harvey soon.

The alloys issue amongst other's does drive me crazy because there's lots of mmentions but no complete name with size, PCD and offset etc.

Ps What's with the Canadian eh?

Got some partial manuals, if you want.

M4X and I have some partial manuals. I will send you a cd if you would like one. I have made a couple of copies in case some people on here want one. They include diagrams and instructions on disassembly of various systems, including cooling system, clutch, front bumper, drive shaft, transmission, steering rack and I think there's stuff about brakes there too. Private msg me if you want to give me a mailing address. I can send you a cd.

Hello just aquired a Hijet 1300 efi

Hello all
For some wierd reason I have always hankered after one of these vehicles, since they first appeared in fact, cant explain it I just did.
Anyway now we are finally together and I can see our relationship is going to be bitter sweet.
I am all for a Hijet group of course and will help the common cause in any way I can.

hi would anyone know how to

hi
would anyone know how to remove the thermostat on a 1000cc hijet Unknw
where it is Unknw any pics would be great

I decided not to take any

I decided not to take any chances and bought a reprint off someone in the USA, they asked for the VIN number so they could make sure we were getting the right manual. It cost $80 but hopefully it will be worth it, it's just a shame the exchange rate is so naff at the moment!

so long as 9 things have been changed, the law does not apply.
as to how anyone can make copies?
if anyone here is friends with any professional printer firms, they can scan the manuals in to PDF format for you. if the manuals are A4 individual/loose sheets the better as this can be done in 5 mins!

How do i know? i collect manuals, parts fiches, HRC manuals for my 1991 Grey import Motorcycle. i put this collection on disk for other owners, over the years its grown from 2 manuals to several + tips on mods, images etc.

i have a scanner at my disposal and know how to scan to PDF, i would make the time to do it as it benefits myself and others.

i did find a free DLoadable PDF of the Charade workshop manual... http://www.onlinefreeebooks.net/automotive-machinery-power-equipment-ebooks/daihatsu/workshop-manual-daihatsu-type-cb-engine-cb-23-cb-61-cb-80-pdf.html

Hijet Manuals

I have partial copies (in electronic format) of some parts of some of the manuals, I am more than happy to let anybody have them, some are just photo'd pages, some are scanned, so the quality varies, It would be good if I could let somebody have them who will complete the missing parts (a major job).

If you want what I have got, please contact me privately.

Would a seperate forum on here just for hijets be a good idea???

Hijet Manuals

Hi mx4 I would love any info you have scanned for the hijet.

I have tried to contact you but the pm systen seems to have bugs.

HIJET MANUAL

HI THERE I HAVE JUST GOT A 1996 HIJET MPV I HAVE BOUGHT IT SO I CAN RESTORE IT I HAVE NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE COPIES OF THE MANUALS IF YOU CAN THEN LET ME KNOW at eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%62%69%67%63%68%69%65%66%77%69%67%75%6d%30%38%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%2e%75%6b%22%3e%62%69%67%63%68%69%65%66%77%69%67%75%6d%30%38%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) Smile

Hijet Manuals...

Hi all.

We have been trying all avenues to obtain the Service/Workshop manual for the CB 42 993cc(EFI)Engine Hijet.

Obtained so far.

Owners Manual (for CB41, Carb,)993cc Hijet. Copy on CDR in .pdf format from Ebay.

Owners Manaul (for CB 41, Carb & CB42, EFI)993 cc Hijet. (Original Paper Book) from Ebay.

(OWNERS MANUAL. OK for finding out the basics. Any real help is limited....

Just an example, even setting up the fan belt tension is "go to the Dealer"!)

Service/ Workshop Manual for the Piaggio Porter (Hijet) Diesel (Lombardini Engine). (CDR containing .jpeg images of what seems to be most pages.) From Ebay.

(We got the Diesel Manual on spec., as most of the van should be the same.)

We have tried the following.

Phoned local Dealer. They said they would phone back. Didn't. (Will check again!)

WOMACO, found from postings on here, London area Dealer. Emailed..."Sorry Not Available."

Tried PM ing various members on here who answered Hijet questions/mentioned they had manuals. No replies as yet.

Tried the Enquiries contact on the Daihatsu Web-site. Now have brochures for the current range, but despite filling in the comments section, no mention of the manual request!

Now trying the Piaggio dealers in Stoke, message acknowledged, waiting for detailed reply....

We are part way through replacing the cylinder head on our 1996 EFI Hijet. Stalled on the Valve setting at the moment, then need to reset the Ignition timing.

We are awaiting delivery of a "Charade" Service Manaul CD from EBay...uses a CB series engine with the same basic cylinder head (and Head Gasket set) to the CB Series engine in the Hijet 993s.

Any manual supplies would be good.

Not sure who the contact is though,I will try them Monday...

HiJet Manuals

I have been trying to private message folks about this but there must be a bug in the site I have partial copies of some of the manuals, there ARE copywrite issuses, but considering the non-availibility I will make my partial copies availible to anyone who requires them, there may be or may not be what you want there.

leave out the *'s

ams*-*serivice*s@hot*mai*l.co.uk

Womoco are one of the best dealers in the country, If the parts man there says not availible, then they are not available. Womoco are useful in that they are both daihatsu (years of experience on the hijet), and they are now Piaggio dealers, but, they aren't on the latest Piaggio dealer list as far as I can see. Maybe they have got pee'd off with Piaggio, I understand that there is a supply problem with vehicles, and as for parts...........! Have you ever been to the dealers to find that they cannot find the part on the fiche??? enough said!

Thanx!

Thanx for all your replies and comments. I definitely think we all need to band together and try and get some sort of workshop manual produced - by fair means or foul!! I'd be more than happy to contribute towards someone's time in scanning/photocopying!! I can be emailed at nix17lady @ fsmail .net (leave out spaces!) Many thanx to you all and please keep me posted! Best wishes, Nix

This can't be right?

Apologies for this, I have called our parts department and the part number for the manual of the 1.0 Hijet is 2220000000153 and it costs £128.86

BUT it is a tad expensive.....

(Not confirmed, but I suspect the £9.69 Manual is the Owners Manual(00150N0241).)

I've just bought another

I've just bought another manual off Ebay. This one is a lot better, it`s described as a technical manual and is actually branded Piaggio. It's 160 mb in size in a pdf format. I've only had a quick look, there was a power graph for the engine amongst other things. I don't know how it compares to the Daihatsu manuals.

manuals

Hey Vertical

I just got a cd off of M4X. He very kindly sent me one after I messaged him. Once I get some cds myself and some spare time, I'll run off a few copies. Would you like one? Smile

They are incomplete manuals for Diesel, 993, 1300, and pick-up Hi-Jets, but they are only partial information. I have looked over them once so far. Some good info on major bits like prop shaft, transmission and stearing assembly. Also wiring (which looks like another language to me) and struts and rear sliding doors. Mostly step by step assembly and disassembly, but no part numbers.

Just wanted to let you know too about alloys research I've done. The KN Minotaur from tyresave.co.uk is available by mail order. I spoke to them on the phone and they said that the 12X5 wheel is suitable for Hi-Jets. They've done them before. They say they can't offer any other size, like 13" for example is wrong fitment. There's a picture in the gallery of a red Hi-Jet with silver 12's on.

Silver is readily available. Black can be done but they want a £50 deposit and don't deliver until enough orders are taken, which meant waiting 4 or 5 months, according to the man I spoke to. I'm lookin' at the black with a silver lip.

I've emailed and phoned everywhere and there is no other source. However, I noticed a firm in the US doing 12X7 chrome wheels on ebay.com. What they term "wheels for Japanese mini-trucks" and they say they're suitable for Daihatsu, Suzuki, etc. But this is dangerous and risky cos you might not get your money back if they don't fit. Not to mention shipping costs. They look really cool though!! Problem is being 7" deep, takes you beyond your wheel arches: say goodbye to MOT.

hope this is helpful,

onilleymcknown
it's Canadian, eh!? Biggrin

Hi onilleymcknown. Thanks

Hi onilleymcknown.

Thanks for the offer. I`ll do a swap with you and then you can see what you think of this one. It`s supposed to be the full manual from Piaggio. I`ll see if I can make a bit torrent of it and get a friend to seed it. If not then the post!

Can you give a link to the 12 x 7 alloys!?

Hijet workshop manual
