GTti Cylinder Head

Cylinder Head finally ready. Had to Heli-Coil one of the cam bearing cap threads, was quite easy and it now torques up fine. Bought a few shims off Ebay. Valve clearances initially set at 0.16mm inlet and 0.23 exhaust, which normally gets it pretty spot on to the hot settings.

GTti ex works DAD ECU

Super rare GTti ECU from one of the ex Works UK rally cars,

These are known as DAD ecu's as they were made by Dawson Auto Developments who prepared the rally cars for Daiahtsu UK.

This one is mapped to run at a crazy max of 1.9 Bar boost pressure, to give about 225bhp.

How well behaved the car will run with it is unknown,

Even 160bhp is quite insane with just 730kg.

Dirty work

GTti floorpan totally stripped and checked for corrosion (none found).

This car has not been on the road since 1996, so the condition is fantastic, normaly they need lots of welding.

3 coats of Hammerite, then covered over the top with black waxoil underseal.

took about 3 months to get it like this (few hours here and there)

GTti head ported

GTti cylinder head i have been working on.

Cleaned, Ported and polished, skimmed, replaced valves (used but much better ones than were originally in there)

Although one of the M6 camshaft bearing cap threads pulled out when i fitted the cams and torqued it to the correct 9-10lbft,

so got to try and helicoil it! Grrr
