F50 Question

Forum:

Hi Guys, I just got an old F50, its just an off road cut down mud plugger, engine is marked DG on the side of the block. Anybody know where I can get a service manual or technical info on this engine? Also how long should I be holding the cold start (glowplug) button in? I've been using about 20 secs which seems to work but I dont want to kill the plugs by overdoing it.

F50 Questions

Hello LD5,
20 sec. is quite OK without stressing the glow plugs.
I have an manual covering the F70 with an DL engine which is from 84.
I do not know if this can help you. Which part are you specially interested in.
Best regards,

The only manual I have for the excelent F50 is in my head. What do you want to know? I'll see if I can dredge up the pertinant info.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Hi Guys and thanks for the replies, sorry for not responding sooner, I've been away for a week. Good to know I'm not overdoing it with 20 Secs on the plugs. I have no serious problems with the old girl but I would like to get hold of some engine info even if it's just the essentials like torques, timing and gaps. Managed to get a (CD) manual for the F70 etc with the later 2.8 but it's all in .jpg rather than .pdf which makes it hard to use, and obviously mine is a much earlier engine. I would be interested to know if there are any serious differences in the essential data.
Best Regards LD5

CD off eBay then!

You bought the CD manual off eBay then. You can only get the pdf version from this site, as I made the PDF version Wink

Anyway the manual should cover your engine right upto and past the date it was printed which I think was early 90's if i remember right.

All the 4/trak deisels are basicly the same engine. Forgeting all the ancilleries (Turbo, intercooler and such) the only real diffrences between the first and the last engine are:
Timing belt later, gears earlier.
Rotery type deisel pump later, in line on F50.
Longer strock to give extra 300cc in later engine.
