Hi guys. I'm new to the forum but this post is one of the reasons for me joining.
I have a Y reg Sirion 1.0 litre automatic with the twin cam 3 cylinder engine.
I gather this engine has a variable valve timing system.
The engine was running fine and is fairly low mileage but conked out with a bit of a rattle and would not start again.
Have a coolant leak near the carburetor on a Sportrak 1991 1.6 Petrol. Also the heater matrix seems to have failed.
Anyone out there recommend a good mechanic in the Medway (Rainham) Kent area? Car is used on land so has no MOT nor tax. Mobile mechanic would be ideal especially one who has experience of Daihatsu's.
Looking for help on handling matters. We recently picked up a 2003 Charade with a genuine 16000 on the clock as a runabout and learner car for my daughter. Never had one before but it ticked the boxes so we bought it. Why they were not a big seller a decade ago is beyond me but that is for another post so please read on.
Have you ever felt your car's brakes, though in good order, are uninspiring or even confidence killing? Does your brake pedal have long travel before much happens? I have a fix!
my 1988 fourtrack 2ltr f80 needs gearbox on it it says daihatsu as opposed to toyota which is on engine. does this mean that it is only replacable with daihatsu or can i find an alternative toyota box does anyone know for sure what toyota uses the 3y engine and may be easier to locate.
Any ideas why my Rally 2 has started spluttering as soon as the temperature reached freezing? It feels like fuel starvation but you can clear it - for a while at least - by really revving it! Tried sitting on the motorway at 85-90mph (on the autobahn of course officer!) to see if it was lack of fuel, but it ran fine! It seems worse between 2-3000 rpm. Checked the air temp. sensor and diagnostics but there seemed to be no problems showing up. Had recently filled up with V-power and wondered if there was water contamination, but I'd done about 70 miles before it started.
Used string method to check rear wheel alignment on my 1986 G11R Charade. Found left rear wheel toed-in by 6 mm.As stub axle is welded to end of beam axle ,how can this be corrected to zero? Cheers from OZ.
