my daihatsu fourtrak,feildman is doing something strange when i turn the key to start it there seems to be a 2 second delay on starting and once it didnt start atall,can anybody help ie lose wire ,chip in key fob. thanks paul

Intermittent ignition rotary switch
My '85 Fourtractor(!) started doing that about 3 months ago, also ignition key completely jammed, whilst in a field.
I thought it was the starter motor (and they can stick), but in my case the rotary switch at the end of the ignition key barrel has become intermittent.
I ended up grinding off the steering lock, and replacing the rotary switch with some hefty toggle switches.

Delayed Reaction
Could be one of two usual problems, the solonoid and the ignition switch.
The solonoid could be contaminated and sticking slightly, there is a slight delay on these models, but this makes it worse. Worn brushes also exhaserbate this problem, so it could be a combination of the two things.
Ingition switch modules can cause similar problems, this is a slight problem with the contacts, these corrode or wear.
