Fourtrak starting problems

I have a diseal fourtrak and all of a sudden it started giving problems when i try to start it. The starter keeps turning but it starts just after about 40-50 seconds. I have checked heater plugs, connections etc but to no avail. I changed the diseal filter but still the same result. Has anybody got any ideas?

Faulty Starting Fourtrack.

2003 Sirion SL 1300. And I love it.
Don't like the new shape much.

I had a Diesel Mondeo for seven years before the Sirion.
I had a similar problem with that.
It ended up being a tiny Air Leak in the connection to the deisel filter.

Check all your fuel line connections to make sure they are not letting in air.
Are you absolutely sure your Heater plugs are working ok.

If not this I hope someone else will have some other suggestions.

Don't like the new shape Sirion much.Sorry.

happened to my fourtrak,

happened to my fourtrak, most likely cracked fuel pipe letting in air. before trying to start try priming the fuel pump, if you feel low resistance to start with then high resistance this means it's first sucking on air before sucking fuel. check your fuel pipes right back to the tank, especially by the rear sub-frame and any other bends.

Poor starting

I had a similar problem. when left overnight the truck was requiring a lot of winding over, really poor starting, no problems during the day when used, heater plugs all replaced and did not cure the problem ( 1 was dud though), turned out to be a pin hole leak in the fuel line , allowing air into the system over night, and resulting the pump to have to self bleed in the morning, took time to find the leak, very little fuel seepage was apparent, after replacing a section of the fuel line all was well.

Thanks to all

Yes the problem was a fuel pipe letting in air but not leaking diseal. Thanks to all who posted comments.
