cambelt broken

Forum:

please please can someone help! my cambelt broke on me this morning . does this mean a full engine change or can it be repaired model 2.8 turbo diesel 1995 fourtrak
buddy bournemouth

Depends ..............

Depends what damage has been done. The cylinder head will need to come off to assess the damage.

I assume you thought the motor could drive beyond the specification for changing the cam belt. An expensive error!

Sorry to say probably will

Sorry to say probably will be cheaper (and eisier) to replace with a compleate engine from a scraper. Most likely you have bent several parts, poss including con rods, tappets, valves or even cracked the crank, pistons and/or head.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
