Forum:
Evening Guys,
I need your help again!
Iam putting a set of khumo kl71s 31x10.50x15 on the Trak, iam having trouble locating a set of offset rims.
I live in wiltshire so local pick up would be great but failing that mail order would be fine.
Any suggestions/recommends.
Cheers Frank.
Rims
Its a case of checking the classifieds, and dealer adverts, many will get a set of offset rims to order.
How much off set do you
How much off set do you want? I found the standard Indipendent (pepper pot / teardrop) alloys quite suficiant for a set of 31's on both an Indi and an earlier 'trak. Main problem with them is YOU NEED THE WHEEL NUTS THAT GO WITH THEM!!! They are not the standard nuts, and are not overly easy to come by.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Offset rims
Hi
I have a set of 31/10.50x15 Cooper STT's on 8.5" idependant rims on my '90 leaf sprung Fourtrak and even though the wheels have the same backspacing as the narrower Fourtrak rims and the extra width on the outside of the rim I found I had to back off the steering lockstops fairly significantly in order to stop the tyres rubbing on the springs, in fact so much that my SWB fourtrak had a kerb to kerb turning circle around 2 metres bigger than my 110" wheelbase landcruiser. The solution I used was to install decent wheelspacers, not those with extension studs and a cast alloy spacer, the billet type with a seperate set of studs for the wheel, I have used these on several of my fourtraks in the past with out any problem, they will put more stress on wheel bearings but I have never had one fail up to now and do increase bumpsteer but not to any great effect. I know that neither Assasin nor Nev are fans but I have had no problem with quality spacers over a good number of years now on a number of heavy 4X4's however I would stress that you should stay away from the cheap ones, at the end of the day this is a critical high stress component and should be treated as such, as a blunt analogy you wouldn't fit an opaque windscreen just because it was half the price of a clear one!
Best regards
Dave
