Clock/Inclinometer/voltage meter

Forum:

I have a 1990 2.8 F70 and I am in the process of aquiring the instruments for the centre console. I was just wondering what order they go in, as I don't want to plug the wrong wires in.

Thanks.

Reading left to right, the order you've listed them in. Clock. Usless meter. Voltimeter. Be ware though, not all Daihatsu's are wired the same! However on both occasions when I have added the clock and Voltimeter, and the wiering was not the same it only took a few min's with a multimeter to put the wires into the right order.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Ok thanks. Each loom is clipped into the back of each "pod" so I am hopeing that they will be correct. Thanks for your advice, I will check them before using Smile

If the wiring and the connectors are all there, you wont have an issue, as the 3 connectors are all different, and you cant plug the wrong one into the wrong one.

just done the same on a 1993

just done the same on a 1993 f78 fourtrak - analogue clock, woblynomiter and voltmeter.

you can put the clock in the voltmeter place and vice versa on mine as the plugs are the same shape - the clock worked fine in both places - the voltmeter just lit up on backlight in both places.

opted for the rhs for the voltmeter - id tested it externally and know its works - it 'appears' ** the wiring polarity is the wrong way round - swapping it gave battery reading with no ignition but no reading once the key is turned/engine running. ended up running a new lead to earth (pulled the other spade out of the connector in case i find the right way to do it) - it now works 'on the key'.
** - i say appears as i swapped them back before running the wire!!
according to f70 manual the v/m should read battery then alternator once running - would be nice if the scale was graduated better than 0 --- 18v as well!!

clock just needs sidelight feed and perm live , woblynomiter just sidelight

i have heard you need to connect a wire elsewhere to get the v/m working straight off the oem wiring - my 'bodge worked just fine though - female spade pushed in to connecto and run down to bolt on centre console behind stereo area - 5 minute job

hope this helps rather than confuses !!!
