Diff problem?

Forum:

I have an automatic Terrios just over 4 years old. Over the last few days I have noticed a lot of back wheel problems when the steering is on full lock and it seems to be getting progressively worse. The rear wheel seem to be skidding and I have to increase the revs to get to move.

At first I thought it might be the back brakes locking on but have dismissed that as it is fine when the steering is more or less straight ahead. Is this a problem with the differential and is it likely to be an expensive job? The car hasn't quite done 60,000 kms yet!

Many thanks for any knowledgeable replies.

Hi Bob, Yes, and it is

Hi Bob,

Yes, and it is regularly serviced by the main dealer here in Crete. However, stupid me has sussed it! Somehow this diff locking thing had got turned on - I didn't even know it existed! Tonight is the first time I have had it out in the dark for a week and I noticed the strange symbol lit up in the middle of the rev counter!

I'll have a proper read up on it tomorrow, though I didn't buy it with the intention of off-roading, but just because it is small with a good turning circle and high off the road in the narrow village lanes here.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
