YRV Turbo front disc question

Forum:

Hi all,

I noticed that on the inside of the front disc on our YRV Turbo, there is a large rusty area around the outside of the disc 8-10 mm, whereas on the outside pads the rusty area is only (2-3mm). As far as I can tell the pads on the inside look a lot smaller than the outside pads. any else noticed this?

The YRV Turbo's pads are

The YRV Turbo's pads are different from the non turbos, but they are the same size either side of the caliper. the main difference is a metal bracket on the 'rear' pads which is part of the audible wear indicator.

If you need new pads, try the EBC Greenstuff pads, I can recommend them for improved 'bite'.

To throw a spanner in the

To throw a spanner in the works, I am using greenstuff pads on my turbo with new vented discs, and at the start the greenstuff was better than the OEM pads, but as of late I feel they are glazing and not giving much repsone as they used to. I am awaiting to fit some D-Sport discs and fast 2 road pads at the next servic, hopefully these will be much better. EBC pads have a very mixed response with car owners.

Funny that you mention that,

Funny that you mention that, I have them fitted on my other car, a Smart Roadster, and the Greenstuff didn't agree with the drilled high performance discs I put on, but were great with the standard discs. Greenstuff need a bit of 'warming up' though.

Noticed on E-Bay that some sellers can sell you the EBC discs for the YRV, so maybe the greenstuff pads may work better with the EBC discs perhaps? You can also get EBC yellow stuff (Tim@japaneazi sells these), although the greenstuff pads are rated up-to 200BHP. Hopefully I'll get a better braking system with the D-Sport Discs and pads. Wink And to answer the question about pad sizes, the new pads I have bought (D-sport type 2's) are the same size for front and back.
