Fourtrak rear side windows

The rear side window rails on my '94 Indy Trak are well rotted. Assuming its not possible to replace these (cant find any mention of spares on t'net)does anyone know of any ways of knocking these up? Or is it a case of when they do finally give up, replace the window by bonding in a panel?

Any ideas/tips welcomed.

Letting the light in

In the eleven years that I have owned my Fourtrak, the only times I have moved the side windows is when washing it, just to clean the tracks. I see no no reason why one should not fix them in the closed position.

This is one those situations when one has to work out a fix , even it comes to getting a single piece of glass or perspex bonded in place. Sorry , may be others can come up with a suggestion, re removing the rails and replacing with a single piece of glass. There has been post re fitting these windows in the van/Fieldsman version of the truck instead of blank panels, a single piece of glass/perspex.

Cheers Edward.....if and

Cheers Edward.....if and when the day comes that the rather ropey rails finally give up (not too long i fear), cant think of any other solution other than making up a blank to hold the glass in (where runners should be) or removing the window altogether and bonding in a piece of poly carbonate.

I only open them for the dogs benefit!

I'm asuming it's a long

I'm asuming it's a long wheel base? It may be eisier (and not that expensive) to replace the whole rear roof section, windows and all?

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

Fourtak rear side windows

Hi, just a thought, early Minis had a similar sliding window arrangement in the doors, although if I remember my old Cooper correctly, both windows slid as opposed to just the one on the Trak. Early Minis are much better served from a parts perspective than Traks so I wouldn't mind betting the sliding rail section is available from somewhere. I should imagine they would adapt fairly well.

Also, I think the Euro spec SWB Shogun had a similar arrangement. The Grey import ones generally had fixed rear side windows. A Mitsubishi dealer may be able to advise.

Why Bodge?

have a pair of windows, not new and with a slight amount of rust in the frames but better than most I've seen. Was going to ebay them but can be yours for £20 each plus post and I can send you pics first. Can also give some instruction on how to remove and fit if that helps.
Give me a ring or mail or just post a reply,
best regards,
