F70 "Comfort" Springs.

Forum:

Hello all. I discovered today that I have a O/S/R bottom leaf broken. Even though my F70 is a Fieldman, I have the "comfort" springs. The ride isn't great as it is so I don't really want to get the multi-leaf standard springs(also that I'd have to buy 2!). Have any of you got/had the "Comfort" springs, and do they really give a better ride than the standard? If I have to buy 2 new rear springs where is the best place to get them, and what is a decent price? I've heard a lot of stories about new springs braking ect ect. Also, I take it that it won't effect the front springs as to what type I have on the back. I think they were all the same, 2 leaf. I really need to get this sorted sooner rather than later so any help is greatly appreciated.

The truck is 1990 buy the way.

Thanks for replies,

Stalin.

Bendy, bouncy bits

Hi Stalin.

I replaced purchased a complete kit, all round. Every thing, shackel bushes, springs, u bolts, the works, and gas axed every thing off, far quicker than messing with corroded bolts.

Only problem the rears seem to be the H/D type, very stiff and running two up and the wheelchair they give a harsh ride. Quite a few posts on this subject, and I believe the ones sold by Bloodred Offroad are softer.

I checked bloodredoffroad on

I checked bloodredoffroad on the F70 section and they don't have any leaf springs listed...I'll email Dave, unless he wants to reply here.... I don't carry any weight in the back, will this make the rider better or worse with the harsher springs?

Also, are the shocks on the fourtrak gas or oil? If they are gas, could it have leaked out, therefore not doing its job, causing the spring to break? Is it possible to check gas springs, if so, how?

Cheers.

available springs

Hi Stalin
we still supply the leaf springs just haven't got them up on the website yet. If you run your F70 unladen all the time and are looking for comfort I would suggest fitting the Sportrak springs as they have a slightly lower spring rate and have PTFE pads between the main leaf pack which will provide a very supple ride on your F70(for a leaf spring). They are the same price as the F70 rears. Give me a ring and I can explain the pros and cons.
Best regards
Dave

Comfort springs are the

Comfort springs are the standard spring, they are not anything special, uprated springs are the heavy duty springs advertised.

Uprated springs are around 20% stiffer, great for towing heavy loads but hinder axle articulation off road.

No such thing as comfort lol Smile

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
