break light warning light

Forum:

ive got the symble (!) on my dash , now ive check the fluid level and thats fine, could it be the pads need changing? my car is a 92 sportrak, does it have the technology to tell you the pads are low? cheers all andrew

Some models had brake pad

Some models had brake pad warning sensors fitted, whip the wheels off or look for a multiplug to the front wheels.

If not it is most likely the switch which is faulty.

Not sure about the

Not sure about the Feroza/Sportraks, but the Rocky/Fourtraks have a magnetic float in the brake fluid reservour. As the level drops, so does the float. If it gets low enough, the magnet will grab the bottom of the reservour, completing the warning switch circuit. Refilling the fluid alone wont refloat the magnet, and turn off the warning light, you have to dislodge the float from the bottom. A screwdriver will do the trick.
