Ta for the replies - I know this is kind of answering my own question, but I have just looked on the specs for the older model, which I guess would be the same as the newer one, and it says 6.4 litresfor the engine.
There are two specifications
There are two specifications because the oil filter was originally designed for changing every "second" oil change.
The lower figure is if the oil and not the filter is changed; the higher one is for the oil and a filter change.
In reality most disregard the manufacturers recommendations and change the oil filter at every service, they are cheap enough from Milners.

Are you sure 6.4l? 0.9 litre seems a lot for the filter, it is rather small. Maybe the Turbo engine has a slighter larger need, due to the pipe going to/from the turbo?
filters vary in sizes
Nothing is standard in aftermarket stuff, if it fits it fits.

There are also the oil galleries to fill when the filter is removed as this is essentially the non return valve for the galleries.

Just been on the Comma site, put my registration in of the '94 vehicle, and it also came up as 6.4 litres.
just done the job
Just done the oil and filter change, and it was actually 5 litres, so much for it being 6.4!!
