my 1993 diahatsu applause is having issues the engine light comes on and car dies,i have had the fuel filter replaced, the oil filter,leads,any ideas as it is costing me a small fortune,my mechanic is getiing pretty sick of my car

Sounds like it may be a fault
Sounds like it may be a faulty heat sensor that is not telling the fuel injector that the engine is warm and so to slow down the fuel supply, causing the engine to flood. It happened to a friend of mine's Sportrak. Don't know if it's the same for the Applause but I suspect it may be.
