non turbo, turbo engine mod

Forum:

Synchros have gone and clutch is slipping in my non turbo fourtrak, so I bought a 94 indedendent to put the engine and box into mine. Just started stripping the fronts off both, does anyone know if there are any things to watch out for or mods I'll need to do to the recipient fourtrak. As far as I can see I'm going to have to think where the hell the intercooler is going to go and there looks to be a recirculating dump valve that's hooked up to the loom which my loom won't have. a
any tips and thoughts appreciated.

Both engines were fitted to

Both engines were fitted to the Fourtrak, and are basically the same, so nothing prohibitive.

Look at a turbo model and see where everything is, i.e. the intercooler, take pictures of everything including close up's of brackets and the detail.

Take the time to do the little things, simply flushing the cooling system, or just coating bolts or studs with copper grease will make life easier in the longer term.

Most owners will be willing for you to lift their bonnet and take pictures of the deatils, so just ask, they can only say no. Once they know what you are doing most will oblige you.

Engine swap

Hi
I have put a '95 turbo intercooled engine into my '90 non turbo F70. I blanked off the feed pipe to the valve you mention and fitted the intercooler in the standard place by cutting the front panel for the feed tubes and spacing the grill and small panel below with the lights in forward an inch or so. I have had no problems since fitting it last summer.
Best regards

Hi, thanks had the two side

Hi, thanks had the two side by side yesterday and as you described i'll just use the rad from the turbo so i can get rid of the expansion tank and just cut a hole in the front plate. Also going to weld the intercooler bracket on for secure mountng. apart from that everything is the same.
already swapped all the interior, doors, bonnet very suprised how similar they are.
