longer dampning
yep longer dampers or damper extensions ( like I fabricate ) will help a noticeable difference but at the end of the day you need either an independent model or something else ( fully coiled) if you suffer that bad, or drive slower lol....
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

you will need longer dampers
you will need longer dampers not damper extensions as they will stop some of the up travel just like they are stopping the drop at the moment as all they do is move what travel you have now to a new postion.
you could try taken one leaf out but you may lose a bit of hight, also try and spray some grease inbetween the leaves to help them slip against each other as that will softon up the ride abit
thanks for that, we did toy
thanks for that, we did toy with the idea of taking a leaf out...
Have you got the rear springs
Have you got the rear springs with the megga thick bottom leaves? If so, do you use the car to shift many heavy loads, or tow heavy trailes? If you have the assister springs, but don't do the work to require them I would remove them, or at least bend them down a bit. This will soften your on road ride, and alow more up travel on the axle. it will however also cause worse road handeling.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
they are 2 leaf springs on
they are 2 leaf springs on the back, and front....no dont use it for towing much really...

what don't and whats tried n

if your shocks have say 8" of travel then thats all you will get unless you mount them inbound more on the axle or point the tops in like this /\
the shocks on the rear of my f78 are 10" travel procomp's and i can get 9"1/4" travel out of them due to the bushes in the link arms binding but once i have rose jointed the arms i will get the full 10" out of them but to get more flex i will need 12" travel shocks and move the top mounts up 2" to get the same up travel but i will also get 2" more drop with them as they are longer
its the newer leaf springs
compared to older original leaf springs, newer ones give a significant lift to the chassis, the leaves do not push upward far enough to compress the damper fully, if they did, you would always be buying new dampers cos you'd blow em, so just buy fitting about 2" extensions your re correcting the mounting point of the damper, besides which you have something called bump stops aswell, but in actual fact I don't have any stops on the front along with 2" extensions, great travel, the only thing stopping maximum articulation on the front is the anti roll bar which I won't remove ever.

right i see where you are
right i see where you are comeing from now and if thats the case you will never get great flex from them
flex quite well
but its leaf sprung not coil, so will never be jaw dropping unless you go revolver shackles the American way, which means moving fuel tanks etc to put dampers in an A like you say (heard to many tip over storys though), there's lots of things that can be done with suspension on 4x4's, but for me it also has to be a practical day to day useful vehicle.
