Radiator
Flush the radiator at service and use antifreeze. Rads have a habit of blockages. Also change the thermostat if the temp gauge is much above the half-way mark. Check both belt tension at regular intervals - there are two belts - the lower is the water pump and gets overlooked.
Note - one of the tension bolts on the belt tensioning arm often drops out and goes missing. Check it is in place.

The same applies equally to your Shogun and Daihatsu; the major problem with them both is neglect.
It is nothing more than keeping the cooling system clean, and with the correct mixture of anti-freeze in.
I have written an in depth article on this in the "How It Works" section, read it and it all becomes clear.

Just take your time and do it
Just take your time and do it correctly, incidentally i have a Shogun and it has never had a problem with head gaskets. Come to think about it it has never had a problem.
assasin is there any
assasin is there any make/brand of coolant you would put at the top of the pile.
Any of the leading brands who
Any of the leading brands who have a good reputation, i prefer Bluecol as they do a long life anti freeze. This is pink and has a life of 5 years, so the cooling system needs to be spotless.
Do not use tap water with these long life anti freeze mixtures, boil tap water, then cool it in the fridge. Do this until you have enough to fill your system, and a little spare and mix this with the anti freeze.
