TDL Gearbox in a TDX Fourtrak

Forum:

Good Evening all,

Got a dilemma that i need clearing up.

I have 2 TDX fourtraks, one for the road and an off roader they both have the 4h button on the dash, i have just bought a few good TDL gearbox's that have the lever on the trasnfer box to shift it in to 2H - 4H - N - 2L rather than the button on the dash

The 4h sticks on in both fourtraks so i'm thinking of putting the TDL boxes and transfer boxes in them.

is there anything else i need to do other than just bolt the replacement gearbox and transfer units in the fourtraks? i'm changing the clutch at the same time for heavy duty units so i wont have to take them off again anytime soon.

cheers

Nothing: the manually

Nothing: the manually operated gearbox is the better option.

If it is sticking it is most likely the solonoids clogged, they have a drain hole for the air to drain from, just clean them.

Alternatively, it could be the vacuum plunger which operates the 2/4 wheel drive is sticking, which is common, and usually dirt.
On the front face of the transfer box is the access plate, remove the six bolts and wiring for the light switch. Inside it should be spotlessly clean, if not clean it and oil it lightly, put gasket sealer on the housing and bolt it back on. It should be fine, if not it is the solonoids or actuating pipes.
