Turbo Trouble (Again)

Forum:

Well the good old D4 light has flashed on 4 separate occasions today. After a restart each time, it went away, apart from one occasion where it did it twice in succession, and on the third attempt of restarting, it went away but the MIL/Engine light was on. Restarted it and MIL still on. Drive 5 miles with it on (past caring now), stop for 10 mins, restart MIL gone. Went out earlier after leaving the car for 3 hours and MIL still off, but D4 did its thing again. Restart, all ok.....................

Do you think the two are linked, possibly the box ecu telling the main ecu that the box has faulted x amount of times? TBH I refuse to pay to get it plugged in at the moment, I will set fire to it before I do that. It did have a new Lambda (top one) last year, genuine Denso one. I have sprayed all of the box connections with WD40 hoping any damp will go away in case that it the problem. I fail to see how it is the battery due to the times that it malfunctions, i.e. ok on cold days (except today!) and plays up on not so cold days, even starting it with every electrical running doesn't make it fault............;-)

With a pregnant missus working out in the sticks on the school run I need it to be reliable. At the moment it is not, and I am regretting buying it sadly - so much for Japanese reliability!! Wish I'd kept my Astra............:-( Wink

Sorry to hear this.....

Hi Wayne,

I was around Daihatsu Dave's over Christmas week and we were discussing the old D4 issue. Apparrently the plug directly underneath the Intercoller is for the Autobox, maybe worth covering this over with a courier type plastic bag just in-case there is water leaking on it. Besides it's been foggy around where I live and it could be damp issues that are causing it. Cross fingers this never happens to me. Just out of a matter of interest do you start the car and drive off immediately? I tend to start mine and leave to idle for a couple of minutes before setting off.

Jon.
