Will Sportrak rear lights fit a fourtrak

Forum:

Hi guys I want to get rid of the lower rear bumper lights on my f78 fourtrak and fit some lights into the rear pillar blanks. Ive got my eye on some sportrak rear lights but will they fit?

cheers

No.

No.

Yes they do. You will need

Yes they do. You will need to make up wiering, and you will also need the plastic inserts to screw the light clusters into. These are not behind the blank caps. The caps unclip at the bottom, but are bolted in at the top. You will need to either take the cards out of the inside of the rear qurters to get at these bolts, or if you don't mind damaging your hands a little, bend the blanks out enough to force a 10mm spanner up behind them.

You may well be right. It was a while ago that I last did this mod. Smile

Thanks for the replys. Can't

Thanks for the replys.

Can't the wires from the lower rear bumpers be moved into the pillar to fit the sportrak lights? and will the wire plugs from the bumper lights fit straight in the sportrak lights or will they need modding to fit?

And I didnt know you needed plastic inserts, I bet these are hard to come by. Maybe its just easier to fit another type of light into the pillar fixing onto the blanks?

14mm

I am doing the same mod to my fourtrak, the nut is 14mm i believe. Im having to used some 7 core to run the cable up to the new clusters.

You should've been able to get the plastic bits for the screws to screw into off the vehicle you got the clusters off.

The lights I am after are on

The lights I am after are on ebay, and it looks like its just the light clusters, no plastic bits.

I'm sure you can find

I'm sure you can find something that will do the job. Halfords or B&Q will probably have something that will cover it. It's just something to fit in a hole, for a self tapping screw to bit into. As for wiering, no I don't think the original wiring will stretch. But 7 core trailer wiering will do a perfectly good job. And as you are doing away with the bumper lights I belive (not sure on the legality of that, as bumper lights were fited to latter modles to meet tighter regulations on light placment) you could run a new feed for all rear lights from under the drivers seat area. Just a thought...
