Forum:
Hi all ,I'm new here I'm going to look at a 1991 sportrak on the weekend, but the owner tells me there are no rear seatbelts. I have a 2 year old daughter and I will need to put her car seat in the back. I'm guessing it's probably quite simple to get rear seatbelts fitted (anyone done this or know how much it would cost?) but the man I spoke to also said the seats fall forward quite easily and would probably need some kind of anchoring down if there was a child in the back.
Does anyone else take kids in the back of their sportrak and if so what kind of restraints do you use?
hope someone can help....
Thanks in advance!
If it's got rear seats it
If it's got rear seats it needs rear belts or it won't pass the MOT. All relevant bits can be bought on eBay, the holes will already be there.
Seats don't fall forward if latched to the floor properly, there should e a plate with loops bolted to the floor
cheers
Rob

got to say is a sporttrak the
got to say is a sporttrak the right car for you? its only a 3 door and the boot space is nearly nonexistant.... can you get a buggy and a weeks shopping in easily? try fitting the child seat in the rear and strapping in a child that dont want to be strapped in.
i really think 5 doors is better and a bigger boot is a must.... fourtrak is better... but a 5 door discovery is a better family car.... ive got both use the disco as the car and the fourtrak for work
i agree
these are midget room vehicles made for small japs, about the size of a mini inside.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Think I would stear well
Think I would stear well clear of that. Either the description is good, and the car is a lomon, or the car is good and the person selling it is the old fruit.
Also I agree with above, a tiny person is not going to be the best in a 3 door with very limited access to the rear, and vertually no boot space.
I have 2 6 year olds and a 12 year old. With all of them in (and no that doesn't leave room for the wife) there is virtually no room for left for anything biger than a larg hat.
When the little people were tiny people we had a Mitsubish Delica. Briliant people carrier which would go just about anywhere. Drawback, 17mpg.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
a sporttrack?
Do not think the sporttrack is a good family car. I agree with Richard's reply. You can get Daihatsu car parts or add-ons but it's still lacking. I don't think it would be a comfortable ride for you guys. That is just my opinion.
