Forum:
I've just got a replacement pump for my daihatsu 2.8td engine fitted to series 2 land rover.
On the new pump I noticed its got what looks like an actuator/plunger barrel with what looks like two coolant pipe attachments. My old pump doesn't have these.Does anyone know what it does and whether I need to connect it up?
Cheers
Tim
Maybe.....
Just to check, you are talking about a Bosch Diesel Fuel Injection pump?
If so, I've got an Bosch article, and there does appear to be an optional "mechanical cold-start accelerator (KSB) advance mechanism with automatic operation".... it's basically a coolant operated actuator.
I can email the PDF document if you are interested - it's 5.5MB. PM me with your email address.
The idea of this device is to improve the cold start characteristics.
Hope this helps.
