front brake pipe access

Forum:

How, in Gods name, do i get at and take out, to replace, and then get back in, the front brake pipes that start under the front of the hijet and go straight up into the footwell, up behind the dashboard. do you have to take the dashboard out?

also the front pipe seems to be thicker further up under the dash or possibly coated in some plastic. when I'm replacing with copper pipe i suppose i can copy if i could just get the thing out in one piece i can't even see where it goes let alone get a spanner to it.

to say nothing about how i am supposed to get the thing out with out leaking brake fluid all over the place lol

HELP please

access result

i found out how to access the top of the brake pipes. by taking steering columcovers off, i even took out the dials o the dash which was pretty easy, but will be fun putting back.

so going to start the job tomorrow. any tips please feel fre to add here.

Helpful

Not sure how helpful that was meant to be. but anyway.

I am halfway through all the brake pipes, just the front ones to do, which seem quite easy after having down the back ones.

one slight problem, the rear brake regulator bleed nut is smaller than the reat 7 mm and i messed it up a bit getting the sucker off, usable but would prefer to get a new one.

then got to bled the whole system whilst replacing all the brake fluid. it was due a change anyway.

a tip for all you NON mechanics (who probably already know everything lol) take the battery tray out of the back of the van, makes the job much easier. if I'd have known that earlier it would have taken half the time so quid pro quo a free gift from me after MOST people on here have been so helpful lol

and a conclusion that you all probably know already dealers parts prices and strategy are ridiculous. no wonder they are all going under.
